Sliding systems

Sliding systems are an excellent solution for many investors, who may not even realize that such an option could suit their needs. They provide maximum light in interiors and show the world without overly exposing profiles. Although contemporary design dictates minimizing the visibility of sliding door and window structural elements, in many systems, they form the foundation of exceptional aesthetics. Thanks to various available materials and decorative structures, it is child's play to customize them to your preferences.

Tradition is power, but it is innovation that makes the difference to the quality of everyday life, the way we use space, and also the associated costs. That is why it is worth paying attention to the sliding door systems offered by Eko-Okna, which not only can prove themselves where classic windows or doors are not a good solution, but also in places where innovation offers significant added value. Sliding door systems – tilt-and-slide and lift-and-slide – offer more design possibilities, intriguing design in itself, and excellent technical parameters.

Sliding systems are convenient

Classic window and door systems require much space in their surroundings to function correctly. It is mainly related to the fact that their sashes and leaves need to be swung inwards into the room or, much less frequently, especially in the case of windows, outwards.

In most cases, it is necessary to dedicate a considerable amount of space to the sash, which paradoxically remains closed most of the time. The larger the sash, the more space goes to waste.

Also, it is crucial to remember that a larger sash of the classic type usually means a proportionally greater effort to handle it correctly, especially with imperfect installation.

The sliding door system eliminates all such problems because the sash moves in parallel with the opening. It doesn't enter the room or does so only minimally. The details depend on the specific components that create the sliding door system.

It is also noticeable that classic hinges, often regarded as a nuisance to the quality of the arrangement, are eliminated in this type of system. They are an unpleasant necessity rather than a deliberately chosen solution.

Of course, designers go to great lengths to ensure that in the classic manner of preparing window and door systems, all elements are distinguished by their excellent design. Despite their efforts, lovers of minimalism are only satisfied when elements they consider unnecessary are as inconspicuous as possible.

The sliding sash requires little force

It is not true that lift-and-slide and tilt-and-slide systems require much strength when operating. This misconception is primarily related to the fact that the moving elements, most notably in the premium segment, can weigh up to several hundred kilograms.

The design of such sashes is very impressive, but the weight may seem overwhelming. Fortunately, in practice, the ergonomic solutions offered by Eko-Okna mean that such sliding door systems operate with negligible use of strength.

The most comprehensive answer is, of course, the use of automation. With this, you control everything through a single button, and no manual action is required. However, due to the high costs of such projects, investors use mainly manual options. In other words, the sashes open and close manually.

It is not difficult, as all systems are superbly balanced. Also, their setup ensures that even a light push is sufficient. It is also possible to appropriately multiply the user's force by a system of actuators, which help to move the components. This way, even people with moderate physical strength can use this technique without concern.

Systems that can be used almost anywhere

Sliding systems are still in use far less frequently than their classical equivalents. That is only partly because of the technical limitations related to their use. Wherever we choose a classic door or window system, it is almost certain we could opt for a sliding system there. And we could do so without much additional effort.

A sliding door system can appear in many different openings made in various materials, concrete or brick, for example. That is very important because, in some cases, there is no need for additional work that would not be necessary when installing windows or doors in the classic edition at all.

Patio doors take up a lot of space, so there is no need to fear that the available spaces are too small for them. Sliding doors and windows are now primarily an aesthetic and ergonomic choice and a matter of what options are preferred by the users of a particular interior.

Especially as pricing is not an issue, intriguing sliding options can be obtained at a relatively low cost while maintaining excellent technical parameters. Their thermal insulation performance is outstanding. Eko-Okna invariably ensures that its products meet these two criteria.

You can also count on the very high durability of used components, which is indispensable for enjoying the window joinery in impeccable condition for many years.

Sliding doors with minimum visibility profiles

One of the most exciting options for Eko-Okna's sliding door systems is solutions that allow any barriers obstructing the view behind the partition to disappear almost entirely. How is this possible? Folding systems are responsible for this.

Folding systems are a distinctive type of sliding system in which all the sashes fold over one another and then slide to the side as far as possible. To achieve a phenomenal large-space effect, we can use a lowered threshold or a threshold installed at floor level. This approach suits terrace exits and is the most commonly used method. Nothing stands in the way of other types of design as well.

One of the most intriguing options is dividing enormous rooms into sections, which is something that catering establishments and many other places that receive guests can apply. Eko-Okna always tries to offer its customers first-rate options that they will turn into original ideas. Investors often surprise suppliers with their creativity in a very positive way.

Rich aesthetic options offered by sliding systems

Eko-Okna aims to help customers make their dreams of the perfect home come true, but also the office and any space they want to create for themselves.

An especially significant element in implementing plans is always the possibility of using a design and colour scheme that matches the façade and the interior. Eko-Okna sliding systems have a wide range of aesthetic options available, without which this would be unrealistic regardless of the technical parameters of the systems.

Availability of options depends on the system the customer wishes to choose. That is mainly due to the materials used for the profiles. Of course, we can opt for the most popular uPVC. More and more frequently, this also applies to considerably more prestigious aluminium and highly durable steel.

Although less popular, wooden sliding systems are highly valued for their aesthetics and unique ecological properties. Thanks to their satisfactory performance, they are gaining a growing number of enthusiasts who choose them for their private spaces.

Hide sliding elements in the wall

One of the most exciting possibilities offered by sliding systems prepared by Eko-Okna is the option of allowing users to hide the active sash in the wall.

Implementation of this solution is relatively simple, as it only requires leaving a space inside the wall where the sliding sash can slide in. Or, of course, a spacious glazed opening can be prepared, which then becomes an exciting element of the façade. The advantages of this approach are obvious, as it is possible to achieve almost free space and make the opening sash stop at nothing else.

The traditional method requires the sash to invade another element. Even in large spaces, where one sash should not close the entire opening, it is possible to divide it into two smaller sashes that will move in opposite directions and thus disappear entirely from view. Of course, a lot depends here on what the building for which we prepare a concept allows. However, these types of systems are versatile.

The sliding door system, or wide passage

Sliding systems are by far the best solution whenever the aim is to achieve the widest passage possible, ordinarily partitioned with glass. The components remove themselves from the way so that you can enjoy the absence of any barriers or, in purely utilitarian terms, can walk in groups and transport large items thanks to the clear opening created when the door is pulled open.

A suitably prepared system can either have significantly lowered thresholds or have no thresholds at all. It is not an option that should be used everywhere and anytime, especially if you consider a version that completely conceals the system's guides on the floor.

It is particularly worth rethinking if you plan to install the sliding door system at the boundary between the terrace and the interior. This risks deteriorating the quality of the waterproofing and getting water inside.

On the other hand, restricting thresholds in sliding systems is a great idea, especially in homes inhabited by seniors with mobility limitations and small children. There is also widespread use of this type of approach wherever something will need to pass or move across the threshold. These requirements are less common in typical living spaces, except those used by people with disabilities.

PSK and HST systems

We may divide sliding systems into tilt-and-slide and lift-and-slide solutions. This division is motivated by differences in use and price. HST systems are more expensive but also considered more convenient. Classic PSK sliding systems appear predominantly in small openings, such as balcony entrances in flats. When closed, they form a single line with a fixed sash. With these, it is not possible to entirely dispense with a threshold.

HSTs are lift-and-slide systems in which the structure moving the sash is constructed differently. They require more space and are typically installed with more glazing. The moving sash overlaps the non-moving ones and slides very gently.

In such systems, it is also possible to create corner glazing, and the thresholds can be reduced to as little as 3 mm. It means that it is possible to hide them completely in the floor.
