Thermal insulation glass, or low-emissivity glass, forms the glazing in modern partitions, which often accounts for more than 90% of its entire surface area. The thermal comfort that the household members can expect and the heating costs they will have to bear depend largely on the glazing.

Low-emissivity glass owes its properties to a microscopic metal oxide coating.
